Special Olympics Australia Statement

Monday 6 July 2020 | We note the actions of National Rugby League player Addin Fonua-Blake on the weekend.

As an elite athlete Mr. Fonua-Blake is a role model for many, including Special Olympics athletes.

We’re pleased to note that Mr. Fonua-Blake regrets his use of exclusive, offensive and derogatory language.

We invite Mr. Fonua-Blake, the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles, and the National Rugby League to continue to get behind people with intellectual disabilities.

Special Olympics Australia is part of a global inclusion movement using sport, health, education, and leadership programs to end discrimination against and empower adults and children with intellectual disabilities.

Everyone is invited to find out more about inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities and Special Olympics Australia at www.specialolympics.com.au
