Special Olympics Australia National Games
20-25 October 2014
Melbourne, Victoria

In October 2014, Special Olympics Australia, the leading provider of regular sports participation and competition for people with an intellectual disability will host the tenth Special Olympics Australia National Games in Melbourne, Victoria.

The event will see over 1,000 athletes of all abilities competing in 16 Olympic-type sports in Australia's sporting capital and in the same world-class venues as their sporting heroes.

It will be the biggest National Games every hosted by Special Olympics Australia.

For many athletes the Games represent the culmination of years of rigorous training and dedication to their chosen sport. The National Games also serve as a platform for athletes to compete at the Special Olympics World Summer Games 2015 to be held in Los Angeles, USA.

It is intended that the Games will encourage more athletes with an intellectual disability to compete in regular sporting pursuits through Special Olympics Australia’s programs across the country.
