20 October - 24 October 2014
In October 2014, Special Olympics Australia, the leading provider of regular sports participation and competition for people with an intellectual disability will host the tenth Special Olympics Australia National Games in Melbourne, Victoria.
The event will see over 1,000 athletes of all ability levels competing in 16 Olympic-type sports.
It will be the biggest National Games every hosted by Special Olympics Australia.
For the majority of competitors, these Games represent the culmination of years of regular training and the Games will be a selection event for the Australian team to compete at the Special Olympics World Summer Games 2015 in Los Angeles, USA.
In Melbourne, Special Olympics athletes will compete in the same world-class venues as their heroes from World Championships and Commonwealth Games, and the event will build a significant legacy to allow more people with an intellectual disability to play sport in Victoria, and across Australia.
